We streamline staffing, scheduling, and on-demand collection services to keep labs running smoothly and patients cared for faster.
What is a “FloatR”?
At FloatR, we call our contract professionals “FloatRs.” These are trained phlebotomists, specimen collectors, and other pre-analytical healthcare specialists who take on flexible assignments through the FloatR platform. Floaters provide labs, hospitals, and clinics with on-demand coverage, ensuring patient care and laboratory workflows run smoothly.
How do I become a FloatR?

You can start the process by clicking here.

Jobs and Shift Management
This section will discuss jobs and shift management questions.
How do I know if there are shifts available?
Shifts posted by our clients will be posted through your FloatR app. You need to make sure that your device notification settings are turned on or set appropriately to receive the latest shift announcements. Other tips: if you are not seeing shifts, make sure that you have applied for jobs, completed your FloatR agreement, and have an active FloatR account.
How do I apply for jobs?
FloatRs can apply for jobs on the FloatR app by tapping on the “three bars” icon at the bottom of your app screen. Next, tap on the “jobs” page. You are welcome to apply for any job you like. You’ll need to make sure that you have the appropriate documents ready to upload. These documents include your current (and job-relevant) resume, certification(s), valid driver’s license, and current (valid) auto insurance, if applicable. Jobs with an open circle are available for you to apply to. Jobs with a blue line indicate that your application is under review. Jobs with a green check mark indicate that you’ve been approved for that job. Finally, jobs with a red “X” indicate that you were rejected for the job. If you are rejected for a specific job, an email will be sent to you explaining why you were rejected for that job.
Why am I not seeing shifts being posted on my app?
When shifts are posted on the app, they are immediately announced through the FloatR app. A couple of reasons why you may not be seeing shifts:
- You have not been approved for the job category, or you have not applied
- Your device notifications for the FloatR app are turned off
- You have not completed your FloatR agreement.
- You may be in an area where we are currently expanding and have limited shift opportunities
If you are in an area with limited shift opportunities, please be patient. We are working diligently to bring on more clients!
How do I claim a shift?
Claiming shifts is easy with FloatR. Shifts are made available in a number of ways to you: you can claim a shift, request a shift, or be assigned a shift. Claimed shifts are shifts that have been posted for anyone to take and are first-come, first-served. Requested shifts have to be approved by the client administrator. Finally, assigned shifts are shifts that have been directly assigned to you. PLEASE NOTE: assigned shifts will need to be accepted in order for you to be able to clock in for your shift. You can learn more about claiming shifts by watching the “How to sign up for shifts” video.
Can I edit my timecard?
Sometimes, FloatR may be required to make edits to its timecards. If an edit needs to be made, the FloatR can simply tap on the $ (dollar) symbol on the FloatR app. Next, tap on “timecard”, then select the pay period. Now you can view your completed shifts. Tap on the shift and you’ll see where you can edit your time. Please note: timecard edits will need to be approved by the account admin.

Pay and Compensation
Below are common questions and responses regarding pay and compensation.
When will I be paid for my work?
FloatR releases payout twice a month (on the 1st and the 15th). Payouts are made using Stripe. FloatRs will need to make sure their Stripe account is activated prior to their first shift to avoid delays in being paid for their time.
Why am I not seeing my pay? It’s the 1st or the 15th of the month!
There are a couple of reasons why a FloatR may not be seeing their payout(s). If you are not seeing your payout(s), make sure that you’ve checked the following:
- Make sure your Stripe account is active and your banking information is correct.
- Make sure you have approved your timecard.
- You have not opted in for Stripe instant payouts.
It’s important to keep in mind that although FloatR pays out immediately on the 1st and the 15th, it can take up to 1 - 4 business days for your payout to show up in your bank account. This delay is due to Stripe and your bank, not FloatR. For your convenience, Stripe does allow you to opt into “instant payout”, which will allow you to receive your funds immediately. Log in to your Stripe account to learn more!
Why am I being paid through Stripe?
FloatR utilizes a 3rd-Party vendor (Stripe) to facilitate payouts to FloatRs. Utilizing Stripe ensures that your banking information is secure with Stripe. It also allows FloatR to provide payouts safely and securely.
Who do I speak with if I have an issue with my pay?
